Narcissistic Abuse Recovery
Understanding narcissistic abuse, its effects on the nervous system, and the path to healing.
The Clinical Perspective
Narcissistic abuse is one of the most disorienting forms of relational trauma — in part because it is so often invisible, even to the person experiencing it. The gaslighting, the intermittent reinforcement, the way love and cruelty alternate in patterns that keep you perpetually off-balance — these are not accidents. They are the predictable dynamics of a relationship with someone who cannot tolerate your full humanity.
Recovery from narcissistic abuse is not just about understanding what happened. It is about rebuilding a sense of self that was systematically undermined, restoring a nervous system that was kept in a state of chronic hypervigilance, and learning — often for the first time — what it feels like to be in a relationship that is genuinely safe.
