How House of Life^™ Works

House of Life operates as the structural backbone of Annie’s clinical work. It carries the metaphorical architecture of the proverbial house of life: foundation, framing, upper floors, and the structural inequities (terra firma) that the whole house rests on.

• Terra firma. the macro ground: structural inequities (patriarchy, capitalism, colonialism, racism, religious structures) that the whole house rests on.
• The foundation. family of origin, early attachment, internalized roles and beliefs. The work of Fixing the Foundations™ happens here.
• The framing. the survival strategies that hold the house up. Brilliant adaptations that often become the cost of adult life.
• The upper floors. the impressive modern life. Career, marriage, parenting, leadership. The part that looks beautiful from the street but feels shaky inside.
• The sensation test. every structural force must be named in body, inbox, marriage, bedtime. The metaphor is sensory, not abstract.
